I can’t imagine being a restauranteur. It’s a job that not only requires an endless amount of passion for food, but also long, long hours. If there’s anyone who can make two restaurants on the opposite sides of Omaha both be successful, though, it’s likely Mac Thompson, who runs both Mantra, his new restaurant in Benson, and Taxi’s, in West Omaha.
The short form: Mantra isn’t where it needs to be yet, but it’s got potential. On one visit things weren’t up to par but on the other two, I found a lot to like. The arancini, pictured above, was one thing. And the restaurant’s craft cocktail list was another.
