The Night of the Food Gun wasn’t complete after two friends took on the Steallanator. If that wasn’t enough (which it wasn’t) four other friends — Matthew, whom you see above, Quentin, Erin and Ben — all signed up to try and complete e-Creamery’s “Dundee Dozen,” wherein you’re expected to down a dozen scoops of the flavor of your choice along with toppings in a mere 20 minutes.
Everyone went in pretty sure they’d be able to put a dent in this thing. When Matthew saw that two of his absolute favorite flavors, banana and chocolate cake, were in the case that night he turned to me and said “It’s a sign.”
Quentin and Matthew placing their orders and taking it very seriously.
The contenders. Look at Erin’s plate! What a pretty, yet lethal, rainbow of ice cream colors. After the photo shoot, the clock began for a second time in one night and the race was on.
It turns out eating cold, hard ice cream really fast is…harder than everyone thought.
But wait! Focus on our fearless ice cream eater in the orange jumpsuit who is taking his pie plate of frozen treats down at an incredibly fast rate.
Such a fast rate, in fact, that my husband, Matthew Hansen, became the new record holder for the fastest Dundee Dozen to date: 9:16! It turns out he has a hidden talent.
The requisite after-victory, major sugar high setting in, I have my winning t-shirt under my arm photo. The champ’s photo will be on the wall of e-Creamery soon. Check it out next time you’re in Dundee.
Nobody else made it through the dozen that night. But the shop still gave everyone t-shirts. Pretty awesome. And this concludes the “Night of the Food Gun.” Thank you for watching.
